NorthShore Health Centers is Hiring a Nursing Assistant Near Portage, IN

Job Summary:
The Nursing Assistant assists NorthShore providers with treating patients, utilizing established NorthShore clinical guidelines. This position may have assignments in adult medicine, pediatrics, or women’s health, and is responsible for maintaining the clinical services standards of care and QI/QA measurements in each of these departments to help ensure quality patient care is provided at all times. This role is expected to be both proficient and confident in all Northshore Clinical Services competencies.
Essential Functions: 
  • Performs ancillary tasks (weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, glucometer) and documents results in the patient’s EHR chart.
  • Screens patients to obtain chief complaint, medical history and allergy information and documents in patient chart.
  • Sets up examination room, prepares equipment and aids provider during examination and treatment of patient.
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
  • Completes all laboratory requisitions accurately and completely and is responsible for ensuring that all specimens are sent to the appropriate laboratory in a safe and expedient manner.
  • Completes patient in-house laboratory testing requested by the provider, according to CLIA standards and guidelines, and records test results appropriately.
  • Assists in maintaining stock, inventory and requisitions supplies, as needed.
  • Records and maintains accurate clinical information in the patient’s EHR chart.
  • Completes the necessary competencies on staff by reviewing knowledge and technique and assisting with any deficiencies.
  • Maintains top quality proficiencies across all areas of training in daily work as well as when mentoring another staff member.
  • Attends meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Executes other assigned tasks as requested by management.
