OPosition Title: Land Use / Environmental Planner

Location: Arcata, CA

Hours: Full-Time, Monday through Friday 40 hours a week is anticipated

Salary: $50,000 to $94,000 (Dependent on Experience)

NorthPoint Consulting Group, Inc. is looking for a Planner with a solid base and education in planning or environmental planning to join our growing team in Arcata, CA. Working under the direction of project managers and partners, the successful candidate will work on a variety of assignments/projects including, but not limited to, research, policy, data analysis, land use permit application preparation, CEQA/NEPA documents, environmental permit applications, coordinate with public/private clients, coordinate with public agencies, attend meetings, and prepare presentations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Technical Requirements

• BS degree in a planning-related field of study
• Strong technical writing skills
• Strong research skills

Preferred Knowledge

• Working knowledge of
• California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
• National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
• Environmental permitting (California Department of Fish and Wildlife, California Coastal Commission, Army Corp of Engineers, State Water Quality Control Board)
• California land use planning entitlement processes
• GIS or QGIS platforms
• Project management
• Grant writing and administration
• Prior work experience or on the job training is a plus

Personal

• Ability to work on multiple ongoing projects
• Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills
• Experience writing detailed technical data and reports
• Detail-oriented and hands-on troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
• Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision
• Must be responsible, dependable, resourceful, flexible, and organized
• Must have a strong work ethic and adapt easily to new concepts and protocol
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving clearance
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
