Full-time Veterinary Assistant

Minimum 2 years of experience required.

Major Responsibilities:

• Monitoring the health of the animals on an ongoing basis and identifying any health problems or conditions and immediately reporting it to the veterinarian or technician.
• Feeding and medicating animals as directed.
• Providing treatment and care for animals including restraint during examinations, nail trims, ear cleaning, administrating vaccinations, etc.
• Monitoring and charting vital signs during anesthetic procedures.
• Acquiring thorough patient medical history and accurately recording treatments and test results in electronic medical records.
• Daily housekeeping to include laundry, cleaning medical equipment, washing dishes and sweeping and mopping floors.
• Providing a healthy, safe, clean, and pleasant environment for the animals and the clients.
• Treating all animals humanely, properly, and with compassion, regardless of the situation or circumstance.
• Working courteously and cooperatively with other staff members.
• Includes some weekend and holiday shifts.

Physical Expectations:

• Physical ability to walk and/or stand on your feet throughout a normal workday.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
• Must be able to assist with restraining animals that are strong, hyper, and sometimes aggressive.
