Department: Echocardiology

Position is located: Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center

Work Type: Full Time

Hours Per Week: 40.00

Work Schedule: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

Summary:

Provides direction and leadership for Non-invasive cardiology, Nuclear Imaging, and PETCT. Has the ability to: contribute to the long-term growth and viability of Northern Light Health; ensure high-quality, cost-effective patient care; address issues of customer satisfaction and human resources management. Actively participates on hospital wide committees applicable to their department(s). Must possess visual acuity, hearing acuity, verbal skills, and command of the English language necessary to communicate with patients, families, physicians, external agencies and staff at all levels in the organization. Must possess manual dexterity necessary for administrative tasks such as preparing reports and departmental budgets and managing quality improvement plan. Ability to communicate in an effective and hospitable manner in person and by phone. Flexibility with work hours and activities in response to unit needs. Ability to learn basic computer skills, to identify own learning needs, to work independently, to recognize need for assistance and seek it in a timely manner, to prioritize work responsibilities and work efficiently in the face of a variety of every changing requests and demands on time. Ability to build supportive relationships with co-workers and evaluate performance of staff members. Ability to adapt to change and modify staff behaviors to meet all regulatory requirements, to adjust staffing to workflow and acuity needs of department, to follow-up or initiate disciplinary actions with goal of changing negative behaviors.

Responsibilities:

  • Insures that the department environment is free from recognized hazards that create a risk of injury to healthcare workers, patients and/or visitors.
  • Supports and facilitate open and non-punitive communication between healthcare workers, patients and families regarding clinical and environmental safety on their unit and when interfacing with other units, groups and individuals.
  • Supports and facilitate employee and non-employee healthcare workers in reporting and directly and addressing patient and environmental safety concerns.
  • Accountable for accident/injury prevention and investigation including root cause analysis, as well as assisting in the return of injured workers to gainful employment.
  • Maintains excellence in customer services through measurement and improvement action plans.
  • Ensures the efficient and effective operations of processes in the delivery of service/care for areas of responsibility.
  • Accountable for budgeting and financial performance.
  • Monitors compliance with legal and accrediting requirements related to areas of responsibility
  • functions and services.
  • Engages staff in providing and improving service delivery.
  • Recognizes staff and others for contributions.
  • Commits to assist the organization in achieving its Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action goals.
  • Conducts ongoing high, middle, and low performer conversations with direct reports including appropriate follow up. Holds direct reports accountable for same with subordinate leaders and staff.

  • Ensures that scheduling of staff is completed timely, efficiently and meets the staffing requirements of the unit.
  • Provides timely performance appraisals

  • Defines the qualifications and performance expectations for all staff positions
  • Ensures the competence of all staff members is assessed, maintained demonstrated and continually improved

  • Serves as a resource to all members of the health care team
  • Completes assigned or requested tasks in a timely, efficient manner

Other Information:

Licensed as Radiologic Technologist Required.
