Northern Light Health is Hiring a Materials Specialist II Near Bangor, ME

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center

Department: Materials Management

Position is located: Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center

Work Type: Full Time

Hours Per Week: 40.00

Work Schedule: 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

Eligible to receive a sign-on bonus of $1,000.

Summary:

Performs the administrative and physical tasks associated with ERP PAR order/replenishment, PAR level adjustments (labels, tracking, etc), Returns, and Customer Service. Responsible for replenishment of multiple cost centers with additional responsibility of constant adjustment of PAR levels for seasonality, business need, or lack of use in the facility.

Responsibilities:

PEOPLE • Remains flexible and willingly accepts changes in assignments and scheduled hours • Maintain harmonious work relationship with all members of the Materials Management team • Can work independently and takes initiative to assist co-workers when time warrants (without direct assignment from supervisor) • Communicates and interacts with peers and other healthcare members to maximize successful customer relations • Demonstrates problem solving skills by using appropriate chain of command and following through on problems that may compromise patient care and/or efficient operation of the department • Assists with the maintenance of a safe, clean environment. • Recognizes and responds appropriately to emergency situations (Dr. Stat, Fire Drill, Disaster Drill) • Follows infection control policies including Universal Precautions SERVICE • Dispatcher Role - Responsible handling and pulling supplies and equipment for the various departments throughout the Medical Center in a timely manner and properly logs all telephone requests for supplies, equipment and other related services. • Dispatcher Role - Responsible for ordering for Dispatch area. On a monthly basis, checking all supplies stored in Dispatch for expiration dates. • Dispatcher Role - Responsible for the neatness of the storeroom including shelves and floor. Effectively assigns Materials Specialists to maximize productivity. Ensures break and lunch times are followed as scheduled. • Dispatcher Role - With the approval of the Materials Supervisor, make changes to the minimum and maximum levels of supplies stocked in Dispatch area. • Dispatcher Role - Coordinates rental requests and acts as a liason between nursing, rental company, equipment technician and purchasing. Follows through with request until product arrives. • Dispatcher Role - Ensures follow through with departments on requests that may be delayed due to stock outages. Communicates with department what, when, and how they will get their product if the product is not readily available in our stockroom. • Mailroom Role - AM Daily: Mail is gathered in a timely and professional manner. USPS and Interoffice mail is sorted in appropirate slots, bagged and loaded on appropriate carts, and delivered to appropriate departments. • Mailroom Role - PM Daily: Mail is returned and transferred to appropriate slots. All mail is sorted and facilities are secured. • Laundry Role - Assembles linen, EVS Packs, and delivers Laundry Carts throughout the Medical Center. Answers telephone and responds to special requests. • Provides support service for internal customers with the goal of Patient First. • Maintains a calm, knowledgeable demeanor, keeps composure under stressful situations. • Performs other duties as assigned QUALITY • Cart Role - On a daily basis, prepare a stock order using the minimum and maximum par levels that have been set up for each item. Transmits completed orders to AMS warehouse for timely delivery. Monitors supplies for expiration dates and removes items as necessary. • Cart Role - Ensure all items received on stock order from AMS are counted and match quantity and item ordered. • Cart Role - Responsible for the neatness of the par location and ensuring that the par location is not overstocked. • Cart Role - Communicate concerns or issues of internal customers to Materials Supervisor as it relates to product additions/deletions/changes to SR1’s. • Shipping and Receiving Role - Check total number of packages received against freight bill. Ensure all discrepancies are noted on the freight bill • Shipping and Receiving Role - Responsible for taking supplies from the receiving area and delivering to the appropriate department (s). • Shipping and Receiving Role - Deliver demand requisitions as received from the warehouse. • Equipment Technician Role - Return all dirty equipment to Materials and clean equipment according to department policy and procedure • Equipment Technician Role - Assist with delivering equipment to various departments • Equipment Technician Role - Ensure that all equipment that requires special qualifications to repair is brought to Clinical Engineering. Repair and replace, if qualified, any parts when necessary • Mailroom Role - Mail issues are reported to the Supervisor. Mailroom staff will greet customers and present mail to each location in a professional manner. All carts must be secured and cleaned on a regular basis. • Laundry Role - Inventory linen carts (records and reorders based on Medical Center needs). Empties laundry bags, and sorts by proper classification. Responsible for wiping down carts and cart coverings. • Conforms to accepted professional standards of attitude and behavior, communicates a professional image through non-verbal behavior, cleanliness and proper departmental attire. Communicates appropriate information to healthcare team members. • Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment used • Demonstrates initiative by seeking assignments when not busy FINANCE • Minimizes loss due to overstock, outcoded product, and mispicks through consistent management of supply carts. GROWTH • Demonstrates a willingness to learn new methods of performance of job duties as available • Completes ICARE within 7 days of evaluation • Attends at least 80% of staff meetings, and reads and initials minutes when absent. • Initials all necessary memos and postings • Precepts team members to job function
