Northern Hills Training Center is Hiring a Full-Time- Employment Specialist Near Spearfish, SD

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities? Join our team at Northern Hills Training Center as an Employment Specialist! As an Employment Specialist, you will have the opportunity to help individuals, obtain and maintain competitive employment. 

Position: Employment Specialist

Hours: Full-time

Schedule: Monday -Friday. Must be flexible, could be some nights a weekend for assisting people with their employment needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional leadership and support in all areas of community employment for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Job includes, but is not limited to, the following:
    • Create and develop employment opportunities within Spearfish and surrounding communities.
    • Coordinate services with SD Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
    • Complete documentation necessary for NHTC vocational services and documentation necessary for tracking employment progress.
    • Connect employers with people receiving services, and assist with the development and supervision of job skills.
    • Provide on-going job coaching support for people needing assistance.
    • Attend Individual Service Plan (ISP) meetings.
    • Coordinate transportation arrangements for employed individuals.
    • Model professional and appropriate actions, manners, attire and ethics at all times.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 years of experience working in the Human Services field. 
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must be well organized and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel.
