Northern Arizona Healthcare Corporation is Hiring a Respiratory Care Practitioner - RRT Near Flagstaff, AZ

Overview

The Multi-Modality Respiratory Care Practitioner positions applies fundamental techniques of respiratory therapy to patients in a variety of health care settings. Able to perform basic respiratory care procedures on newborns, pediatrics and adults.

Respiratory Care Practitioner CRT assists in the diagnosis and treatment of patients who have pulmonary disorders such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), collapsed lungs, and pneumonia. May collect blood samples, conduct tests, measure lung capacities and determine the levels of gases, such as oxygen and carbon dioxide within patients lungs.

Respiratory Care Practitioner RRT treats patients with pulmonary disorders such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), collapsed lungs, and pneumonia. The RRT meets with patients, diagnoses ailments, designs treatment plans and conducts tests to assess lung capacity and gas levels.

Senior Respiratory Care Practitioners and Specialty Respiratory Care Practitioner treats patients with pulmonary disorders such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), collapsed lungs, and pneumonia. The Senior and Specialty Respiratory Care Practitioner meets with patients, diagnoses ailments, designs treatment plans and conducts tests to assess lung capacity and gas levels. The Senior or Specialty Respiratory Respiratory Care Practitioner will have at least one specialty credential such as Adult Critical Care Specialty (ACCS), Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT), or Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (NPS).

Responsibilities

Patient Care* Performs ABG punctures according to NAH Policy.

* Provides proper concentration of pharmacological solutions and administers appropriately as prescribed by MD or licensed independent practitioner and monitors for effectiveness.

* Records patient vital signs including breath sounds, ventilator status, mental status, and response to treatment.

* Identifies patient and verifies orders before administration of any treatment or respiratory care to patient.

* Sets ventilator parameters according to established patient protocol and doctors’ orders.

* Performs/assists in the placing of E.T. tube properly, minimizing facial, oral, and tracheal trauma.

Equipment Care* Assembles and disassembles, operates and maintains, troubleshoots, cleans, and performs minor repairs on equipment.

* Educates patients on therapy's and prescribed medications/therapy given prior to discharge while documenting patient understanding.

Administrative* Completes all billing paperwork.

* Demonstrates timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, EMR entries, and patient responses.

Compliance/Safety* Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

* Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Practices in a safe and cost effective manner.

* If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.

* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame.

Qualifications

EducationRespiratory Care Practitioner- CRT:*Associates Degree from an AMA approved school of Respiratory Therapy – Preferred

Respiratory Care Practitioner- RRT:*Associates Degree from an AMA Respiratory Therapy Program- Required

Respiratory Care Practitioner- Senior:*Associates Degree from an AMA Respiratory Therapy Program- Required

Certification & LicensuresRespiratory Care Practitioner CRT:*Licensed by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners - Required

*Proof of having passed the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).- Required

*Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, PALS - Required

*NRP- Required within 90 days from date of hire and/or providing care in special care nursery

Respiratory Care Practitioner RRT:*Licensed by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners- Required

*National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)- Required

*BLS, ACLS, PALS - Required

*NRP- Required within 90 days from date of hire and/or providing care in special care nursery

Respiratory Care Practitioner Senior:*Licensed by the Arizona Board of Respiratory Care Examiners- Required

*National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)- Required

*One specialty credential ACCS, RPFT, or NPS- Required

*BLS, ACLS, PALS - Required

*NRP- Required within 90 days from date of hire and/or providing care in special care nursery

*Certified Asthma, or Pulmonary Disease Educator Certification, or AHA Certified Instructor – Required

Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.
