Northern Air Systems, Inc. is Hiring an Utility Worker Near Rochester, NY

Job Purpose: Support the powder coating operations by preparing material for paint and coating.
Job ClassificationFull Time Non-Exempt Hourly
Pay Grade$20.00-$23.00 (depending on experience)
Work ScheduleMonday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Division/DepartmentProduction/Powder Coating
Reports To/ Supervisory LevelProduction Manager / Team Leader. No direct reports.
Education RequiredHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints
Experience RequiredOne (1) to two (2) years of production experience in a fabrication manufacturing environment
Certifications N/A
Knowledge RequiredMust be able to perform each essential duty per required standards and quality requirements. Must be able to read a tape measure to 1/16”.
Skill Set RequiredProficient with common power and hand tools. Clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills including file structure and navigation and time management software.
Work AuthorizationMust be authorized to work in the United States
Travel RequirementsNo routine travel
Tasks And ResponsibilitiesEnsures parts are properly prepared for powder coating. This may include sandblasting, rust removal, oil removal, and overall cleanliness. Knowledge of proper hanging techniques.
Qualify properly processed parts using a basic understanding of chemical pretreatment.
Assembles assigned product parts in accordance with production guidelines.
Performs mechanical tasks when necessary to include drilling, sawing, and grinding, etc.
Cuts and bends metal parts for projects.
Must be able to perform each essential duty per required standards and quality requirements.
Maintains organization of the shop in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
Learn and use material flow and job packets information.
Complete all required reports and associated paperwork.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to read and understand the English language.
Ability to distinguish colors.
Maintain a professional appearance.
Self-motivated, focused and results oriented. Self-determined and driven to achieve defined goals.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet or humid conditions; work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical DemandsThe employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Employee is required to adhere to all required PPE, including but not limited to: safety glasses, hearing protection, masks, gloves appropriate for material being handled.
Closed toe shoes in production areas.
Quality Management SystemEmployees are required to attend all required training and adhere to all policies and procedures according to company ISO Guidelines.
