JOB SUMMARY
In this professional position the Assistant Director will assist the Director in training staff, working with Student workers or interns, supporting families, accreditation and ongoing objectives of the center.
MAJOR DUTIES
Imperative to be a team player with excellent organizational skills.
Must be 21 years of age.
At least 3 years of experience in a child care setting, or related experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Experience in running a classroom.
Creating age appropriate lesson plans and implementing the curriculum in the classroom.
Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
Skill in the supervision of personnel.
Skill in oral and written communication.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Assistant Director assigns work in terms of general instructions.
GUIDELINES
The Assistant Director carries out a group of procedures using the general methods and desired results indicated by the supervisor.
Assignments are related in function and objective, but processes, procedures, or software varies from one assignment to another. Based on the assignment, the employee uses diverse, but conventional, methods, techniques, or approaches.
Employees in jobs at this level may perform work that is moderately complex, but normally performed within a fairly narrow and specific functional area.
CONTACTS
Contacts are typically with faculty/staff from the College of Education and co-workers, other university personnel, faculty, staff, students,
vendors, and members of the general public.
Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, to resolve problems, to
provide services, or to motivate or influence persons.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping.
The work is typically performed in a classroom setting.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
Supervision, training, or directing the work assignments of (a) small numbers of student, part-time or temporary workers, or (b) one or more permanent, full-time
employees. The nature of supervision is largely confined to scheduling work and assigning tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, SPED, or a related field, or equivalent classroom/teaching experience.
Must be able to pass state-required criminal background check.
Current CPR/1st Aid or be willing to complete it within 30 days of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in the field of Education.
Annual salary $32,000.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time.
