Facilities Technician


Summary:
Physically performs maintenance functions and minimizes need for outside services. Responsible for oversight, maintenance, and correction of all facility related issues, including compliance of safety concerns, and building standards, HVAC, risk management, building and site grounds maintenance, special projects, moving equipment, supply delivery, relocating furniture, and improvements or construction to all NRHC sites/facilities.

Operations Coordinator

Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing, walking, bending/stooping, squatting/crouching, balancing, reaching, twisting/turning, pulling, stand up lifting to 50 pounds, speaking/hearing, reading, writing, close eye work, repetitive motion of hands, fine and gross manipulation, up/down and side/side hand motion, exposure to infectious disease, exposure to solvents/chemicals, exposure to public/staff/physicians, working with others, fast work pace, frequent change, frequent interruptions, independent problem solving.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and perform seasonal and regularly scheduled maintenance for optimal building/site functionality.
  • Oversee repair and maintenance of all office equipment that does not have a maintenance contract.
  • Notifies housekeeping staff to resolve any issues or problems.
  • Works with the Operations Coordinator in the procurement of new contracts as needed and ensures that work is being done in accordance to contract agreements.
  • Work with Operations Coordinator to determine facility needs and resolve facility problems.
  • Perform minor repairs and alterations, including electrical trouble shooting, replacing electrical ballasts, basic plumbing.
  • When more significant projects are presented, investigate options, and make recommendations for contracted services.
  • Maintain weekly contact with the Operations Coordinator to discuss work assignments and status of ongoing projects.
  • Ensure that all work assignments are completed in a timely manner.
  • Represent organization when working with any contractors, city officials, and utility employees.
  • Attending meetings as specified.
  • Pick up and deliver supplies from and to NRHC locations as needed.
  • Maintain off-site storage area in orderly manner, disposing of records and equipment as needed.
  • Transporting and disposing of Medical Waste located at NRHC locations as needed.
  • Furniture assembly, moving and disposal as needed.
  • Responsible for all building preventative maintenance, including quarterly HVAC maintenance, annual backflow checks, annual fire system inspection and fire panel maintenance, hydrant pressure checks and all other building compliance maintenance as necessary.
  • Maintain outside grounds, to include plants and foliage, around clinic and assure that watering needs are being met. Maintain drip irrigation system.
  • Work with contractors as needed to have carpets shampooed/waxed biannually.
  • Responsible for coordinating scheduled pickups of trash and biohazard waste bins with vendors/contractors.
  • Other duties and specialty projects as assigned.


Risk Management

  • Works with Safety committee to resolve safety issues at facilities.
  • Maintains familiarity with ADA, OSHA, and other requirements for facilities, and ensures compliance.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Significant experience in construction or facility management.
  • Must be able to operate a personal computer.
  • Knowledge of construction principles, safety issues, and building maintenance.
  • Ability to think clearly, quickly analyze and solve problems of organization and management; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Perform tasks using own initiative and without detailed instruction.
  • Must be physically able to perform construction, moving, and maintenance tasks and projects. Ability to work a varied schedule as needed for projects and maintenance.
  • May be on-call for facilities emergencies or snow removal.
  • Must maintain confidentiality relating to NRHC personnel, patients, and information which could result in proprietary damage to NRHC.

Certificates/License: Employee must possess a valid California driver’s license, an acceptable driving record and auto liability insurance.
