Position Summary
LPNs receive and process patients, take vital statistics, update medication notes, and assist the Provider in patient care. The duties of the LPN will vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the provider’s specialty. LPNs perform multiple tasks including both administrative and clinical duties and report directly to an office coordinator and provider.
Position Accountabilities
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Performs basic nursing procedures including thermal applications, non-sterile soaks, application of simple dressings, perennial care, and urine tests.
Performs and documents focused nursing assessments of patients and reports to the appropriate personnel.
Orders and administers medications as directed by the provider.
Obtains and documents patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, weight, respiration and pulse.
Obtains and documents patient history including family, social and surgical history, patient medications and allergies and other relevant information for the provider.
Assists provider with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
Monitors medical condition and emotional stability of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel.
Demonstrates sensitivity to patient’s comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
Ensures accurate maintenance of patient’s medical records and that patient records are treated as confidential information.
Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.
Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
Provides health care instruction to patients and family members.
Attends meetings as required.
Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.
Orients, instructs, and trains personnel as assigned.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
