About the Role:
The Kitchen Assistant provides the daily care and focused attention necessary to safely cook and package edibles for our customers.

How you’ll make a difference:
The main responsibilities of the Kitchen Assistant include all aspects of the daily preparation for cooking activities; performing the physical labor of cooking; labeling and packaging; presentation; and maintaining the highest levels of cleanliness and sterility inside the kitchen area.
  • Assists in the daily preparation work for cooking activities such as preparing packaging materials
  • Performs physical labor of high-volume cooking
  • Records and tracks accurate weights and measurements of edible cannabis throughout the cooking and packaging procedures using company systems and protocols
  • Maintains a clean, safe environment inside the processing area
  • Inspects edible cannabis products for defects
  • Calibrates, operates, cleans and stores packaging equipment including heat sealers, etc.
  • Prints and applies labels to finished product; stores and inventories finished product according to Company policy and as directed by the Kitchen Operations Manager or Director of Production Operations
  • Other duties may be assigned
Skills to be Successful (minimum qualifications):
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years post-secondary education
  • Work history showing progressive responsibility, willingness to accept additional projects or challenges
  • 1 year experience in food service kitchen or related field
  • ServSafe certification preferred, but not required
  • Knowledge of basic computer & office equipment operations (inventory systems; Word; Excel; office equipment such as copiers/telephone systems)
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment
  • Math required for inventory, projections, and measurements
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Ability to effectively plan and prioritize
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to focus, attention to detail
  • Skilled at using computers
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate clearly and calmly
  • Ability to remain calm in periods of high stress or unusual activity

Schedule:
  • Monday – Friday 6:30 am – 3:00 pm

  • Must be able to work quickly but efficiently, while maintaining the integrity of the product.
  • Light to moderate lifting of up to 50 lbs.; heavier weights with assistance.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Repetitive motions and understanding of lab equipment.
  • Must wear company-provided lab coats, hair/beard nets, gloves, surgical masks and safety glasses/ goggles/ splash shield, while working in the lab.
  • Must adhere to facility general hygiene requirements.
  • Must be able to work in a commercial kitchen with exposure to various food allergens such as soy, wheat, nuts, etc.
  • Must have reliable transportation
