Overview

As our Youth Peer Support Partner you will act as a support and resource for youth with serious emotional disturbances (SED), working one on one or in group, supporting them in achieving goals through shared activities and interventions.

You will support youth empowerment by assisting youth in developing skills to improve their overall functioning and quality of life and working collaboratively with others involved in delivering the youth's care to help them achieve community inclusion, participation, independence, recovery, resiliency and/or productivity. Your empathy and patience will serve you well in this role.

Hours – Part-time hours are a minimum of 20-24 hours per week.

Must have – High school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, be an adult 18-28 years of age, have lived experience with mental health challenges as a youth and who received mental health support as a youth or young adult. Experience receiving services in a variety of systems (such as child welfare, education, the justice system, vocation, housing, etc.) as a youth or young adult is preferred.

Salary – Starting pay is $17.21/hr

Do I need a certification to do this job? Yes – You will need to complete the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) approved curriculum once you’re hired. Trainings are paid for by the Agency, but you will be responsible for your certification/recertification.
