Community Engagement & Communications AssistantThis position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual interested in gaining hands-on experience in community impact work, supporting a human centered approach to engaging the community and developing marketing and promotional skills for a community based organization. Collaborating closely with the Executive Director of the St. Johnsbury Community HUB, the Community Engagement and Communications Assistant will play a key role in developing promotional strategies, creating marketing materials, planning and hosting programming, managing the HUB space and uplifting community led initiatives. This role provides a platform for personal growth and professional development, offering exposure to various aspects of nonprofit work, including messaging, branding, event support, and community outreach. This work extends throughout the Northeast Kingdom and consists of direct engagement with community members of varying ages and backgrounds. The work of the St. Johnsbury Community HUB aspires to be transformational. About St. Johnsbury Community HUB:The St. Johnsbury Community Hub Project seeks to provide discovery, opportunity and space. Disjointed service delivery systems, agency limitations along with individual circumstances of instability and inadequate opportunities are areas of concern in Caledonia and Southern Essex Counties. Ongoing community input and buy-in is at the heart of this pilot project. The Hub is to be a space open to the public, offering scheduled and impromptu opportunities, for the local community to access. The Hub Project is in its infancy. We used virtual discussions to introduce the project and to hear more directly from persons living and working in and around Caledonia and Southern Essex County.As a starting point, St. Johnsbury will serve as the center of the wheel. As the project continues to expand, mobile and satellite spaces will be created. This project is looking to hear how the community identifies its needs. There is no blanket solution. Building support and addressing the unique needs of the region will come from the inside, out. Through various engagement opportunities the project will continue to invite community perspective and voice in. Key Responsibilities:Operational Support and Community Connection:Support daily operations including overseeing space usage, preparing for activities, and connecting community members with resources.Engagement and Adherence:Uphold engagement standards by modeling behaviors outlined in agreements and ensuring community compliance.Community Assistance and Engagement:Actively engage community members in utilizing space, participating in programs, and accessing available resources.Collaboration and Feedback:Work collaboratively with community and provider partners to strengthen links to services and gather and address feedback.Event Planning and Communication:Provide planning and facilitation support for events, programs, and trips, and assist in updating communication platforms to reflect current programming and events. Essential Skills and Abilities: Commitment to HUB Model and Human-Centered Approach: Strong dedication to community-centered values.Adaptable to dynamic and unpredictable work environments with the ability to reframe things for safety enhancement Effective Interpersonal Skills: Engages with diverse backgrounds in collaborative settings.Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Comfortable addressing community conflicts.Motivated for Learning and Initiative: Driven to learn and take charge in supportive environments.Proficiency in Computers and Engagement Tools: Skilled in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Canva.Familiarity with Social Media Platforms: Knowledgeable in Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.Organized with Strong Time Management: Efficiently manages multiple tasks with attention to detail.Capable of Independent and Teamwork: Works well independently and collaboratively within teams.Qualifications:High school diploma required.Proficient in computers, including Microsoft Office Suite.Experience with graphic design tools such as Canva.Familiar and competent with social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.Experience with virtual meeting platforms like Zoom.
