NORTHBRIDGE PUBLIC SCHOOLS is Hiring a Dean / Vocational Coordinator Near Whitinsville, MA

Essential Functions/Responsibilities1.Manage and facilitate internships and capstone projects in the Whitinsville area for Northbridge students. 2.Establish internship sites by visiting potential job sites to determine their appropriateness for internships and establish internship guidelines collaboratively with the students and guidance department.3.Assist students to appropriate internships, and regularly monitor the internships with both the students and employers. 4.Serve as a source of information for dealing with workplace questions and situations, and provide positive role modeling to students through displaying a working knowledge of workplace policies, procedures, and communication skills.5.Facilitate the identification and development of vocational skills needed for each workplace with the student intern. Reinforce, at job sites and in the classroom, those academic skills which are related to vocational training.6.Complete required documentation regarding the students progress, activities, and growth.
Work closely with the Northbridge Career Academy Coordinators and the Guidance Department to monitor programs and student progress, and evaluate student performance. 7.Assist the Middle School in providing High School Academy and internship opportunity information to Middle School students and families8.Participate in the development of capstone projects, facilitate the acquisition of information for students completing capstone projects, and assist in organizing the culminating presentation of internship and capstone experiences.9.Work with Guidance Counselors to collect and disseminate information to students and families concerning vocational opportunities, opportunities for further education, careers, and career training opportunities.10.Provide in-class soft skills training to students during advisory/WIN blocks.11.Manage student supervision issues and enforce school behavioral expectations.12.Be a visible and continuous presence in hallways and cafeteria throughout each day to ensure students are in class and handbook infractions are limited. 13.Serve as a resource to staff in dealing with classroom management issues.14.Investigate student bullying complaints and file appropriate reports to school administration and district office.15.Report and refer all major handbook infractions to the assistant principal and assist with any resulting investigations, as requested.16.Coordinates efforts with guidance, school resource officer, school adjustment counselors, and school psychologist to discuss and problem solve student attendance and/or behavior issues through the MTSS and SST process.17.Consult with families, in collaboration with assistant principal and guidance, concerning student attendance and behavior.18.Assign and monitors daily office detentions and provide daily office detention attendance reports/updates to administration. 19.Assist principal and assistant principal with the annual review and update of the school handbook.20.Participate in professional development opportunities sponsored by the District that will enhance ability to perform the duties of the position.
21.Participate in Restraint Training; become certified in its implementation and maintain the ability to implement restraint techniques; be familiar with regulations related to restraint use.22.Provide supervision at extra-curricular and athletic events, on a rotating scheduling with principal and assistant principal.23.Assume responsibility when all other administrators are out of the building.24.Conduct other staff duties and responsibilities as directed by the principal or Superintendent
