North Wind Services, is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the Department of Energy. Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly-motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in Livermore, CA. Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the research laboratories. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.

The Nuclear Counterterrorism and Counterproliferation (NCTCP) has an opening for a Technical Analyst to required to maintain his safety, security and ethics training mandated by LLNL and will comply with LLNL procedures while executing the tasks.

This position may require the employee to have the flexibility to work overtime, shift and/or weekends to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments.

Essential Duties
-Provide advice and assistance in developing plans to meet long-range program vision
-Assist in the integration of technical plans with other NCTCP efforts
-Provide advice and assistance to LLNL staff in ongoing work
-Assist in the planning and execution of experimental and modeling tasks
-Participate in staff meetings, technical reviews and other meetings in preparation
for NNSA Program Management and external committee reviews at LLNL.
-Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
-Provide advice and assistance to the EMC Director and staff, in the following areas:
-Development and implementation of updated definition of Insensitive High Explosives.
-Scientific guidance in all aspects of energetic materials science and technology, including new material development, hazard response, and the High-Explosive Reference Guide.
-Guidance to programs on questions involving energetic materials
-Development of training material on energetic materials and related topics for LLNS staff.
-Explosive Safety Program, including the LLNS Explosive Safety Committee, Peer Reviews and Peer - Reviewer training, and developing improved Explosive Handler training.
-Archiving critical information.
-Updating of programmatic displays in lobby and downstairs area.
-Other activities identified by the EMC Director.

Special Requirements
Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

Anticipated Clearance Level: Q (position will be cleared to this level). Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.
