North Wind Group is Hiring an Equipment operator Near Kellogg, ID

Location : Kellogg, Idaho

Title : Equipment Operator

Schedule (FT / PT) : Temporary Full Time

Travel Required : No

North Wind Construction Services provides heavy civil construction services with special expertise in mine reclamation, repository construction and operation, landfill closures, and stream restoration.

Operations began in northern Idaho, but have expanded to new regions including Las Vegas, Seattle, and Oak Ridge. The Construction Services team is known for the successful completion of projects in challenging conditions that are often in remote locations throughout the U.

S. North Wind Construction Services is a certified 8(a) and small disadvantaged business.

POSITION PURPOSE :

The Equipment Operator shall operate one or several types of heavy construction equipment, such as bulldozers, excavators, front-end loaders, graders, or compactors, to move construction materials, earth, debris, rock, and other materials on heavy civil construction sites and remediation projects.

May repair and maintain equipment in addition to other duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life
  • Operate assigned equipment in a productive manner often alongside other equipment crew operators
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
  • Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored
  • Advise the project foreman of any needed maintenance or repairs
  • Participate in routine maintenance.
  • Requires strict reliability to be on the assigned project site at the designated start time.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Read and understand safety policies and procedures
  • Safely execute work assignments
  • Notify appropriate personnel of issues needing management attention.
  • Follow North Wind and client procedures.
  • May be required to maintain work log or other project paperwork, as applicable.
  • Maintain contemporaneous timesheets and submit on a weekly basis.
  • Work independently or with others on a crew to complete daily assignments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Education and Experience :

  • High Diploma or equivalent
  • Required years of experience depend on the specific operator position applied for

Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to work safely and efficiently
  • Ability to follow supervisory verbal and written instructions and designated health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme weather and difficult terrains.
  • Experience with reading survey grade stakes (cut and fills) is required.
  • Ability to reasonably recognize and avoid site conditions that have a high chance of causing damage to the operated equipment
  • Need to be able to read and write and understand written directions. Mainly will follow directions of Foreman or Site Superintendent.

Special Requirements :

  • Current OSHA Hazardous Waste 40 hr training is a requirement.
  • Must have a valid driver license
  • Must pass pre-employment background check
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Applicants are required to have REAL ID ACT compliant documentation at time of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms;

climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk.

The employee may be required to sit for long periods of time. The employee must be capable of routinely lifting and / or move up to 60 pounds.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT :

The majority of the work will be performed in outdoor conditions and often in inclement weather including rain, snow, wind, heat, and / or cold.

Terrain may be steep mountainous terrain or potentially with unstable soil conditions.
