North Texas Behavioral Health Authority (NTBHA), based in Dallas is responsible for developing a collaborative system of care for children, adolescents and adults with severe mental illness and other serious emotional disturbances, as well as those experiencing a substance use disorder.

We are responsible for developing a collaborative system of care for individuals in crisis in the NTBHA service area. We are focused on trauma-informed, resilience-oriented care in all services provided.

The OSAR SUD Outreach Contractor will serve our six-county region of Dallas, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro and Rockwall Counties.

Job duties and responsibilities include:

  • Assists with promoting awareness of OSAR services, arranging Narcan & COVID-19 supply order and delivery.
  • Travel within our 6-county region for outreach events, outreach, arranging order & delivery of COVID-19 supplies, and meetings.
  • Identifies site locations for outreach work. Identifies and attends approved community events to represent OSAR and distribute educational OSAR materials, items, and Narcan kits.
  • Refers interested agencies that want presentations to the OSAR SUD Education Specialist-Trainer.
  • Establishes and keeps current a resource file/directory of information regarding available programs, services, contact persons and avenues of access in the community, and current trends of knowledge regarding health services.
  • Weekly email or phone outreach. Attends community and agency meetings as well as outreach events as required and directed.
  • Maintains, distributes/delivers and logs Narcan kits distribution, as well as COVID-19 supplies for community and providers.
  • Develops and submits accurate reports regarding program activities, communities served and other information as needed.
  • Responsible for purchase orders, maintaining and logging distribution of OSAR inventory for events and OSAR COVID 19 supply distribution to community agencies, NTBHA providers, etc.
  • Duties and projects may be assigned or changed to meet business needs.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Associate level acceptable, BA/BS degree or higher in health or human/social service-related field preferred, or 1 year work related experience preferably in substance use disorders.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and automobile liability insurance, with a good driving record.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus but not required.
  • Current knowledge of local community resources, providers, and social supports for homeless and indigent populations within the NTBHA service area.
  • Experience in and knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction and recovery principles and standards of care.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Pass and maintain a clear background record as required for healthcare organization under state and federal contracts.
  • Be able to lift or carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills - Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. with an ability to become familiar with company-specific programs and software.
  • Must be able to work on and have knowledge of a PC (personal computer).
