North Reading School District is Hiring an Anticipated School Psychologist (2024-2025) Near North Reading, MA

The L.D. Batchelder Elementary School is seeking a highly qualified and experienced School Psychologist to join our team starting in the 2024-2025 school year. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential. 

As a School Psychologist, you will work with students, educators, parents/guardians, administrators, and other professionals to support the academic and social-emotional needs of students in our school.

North Reading Public School Educators first contractual day is September 3, 2024. New educators are to attend the two day new staff orientation on dates still to be determined.

Essential duties

  • Conduct psychological and educational assessments as part of the special education process
  • Provide counseling and intervention services to support the behavioral and mental health needs of students
  • Oversee and manage 504 plans for eligible students
  • Coordinate and complete required paperwork as part of the IEP team process
  • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans for students who require additional support
  • Collaborate with educators and other professionals to create a positive and supportive learning environment for all students
  • Support students who exhibit school refusal, chronic absenteeism, or behavioral concerns that interfere with academic success
  • Serve as a member of the school’s Crisis Response Team
  • Advocate for the needs of students and families within the school and community
  • Coordinate services for students who are returning to school following extended absences due to illness or hospitalization
  • Work collaboratively with school administrators to promote school policies

Requirements

  • Master's degree in School Psychology or a related field
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Professional Support Personnel: School Psychologist, all grade levels
  • Experience working as a School Psychologist in a school setting
  • Strong knowledge of psychological and educational assessments, counseling techniques, and intervention strategies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
