Title: Substitute Teacher

starting rate: $180/day for PDE certified teachers; $170/day for GUEST teachers (non-PDE substitute teachers)

Per Diem Substitute Teacher - w/ PDE Instructional Certificate

1-25 work days $180/day

26-75 days work day $190/day

76 or more work days $200/day

Per Diem Substitute Teacher - “Locally Issued Day-to-Day Substitute” Teachers (Guest Teacher Program)

1-25 work days $170/day

26-75 days work day $180/day

76 or more work days $190/day

**Training offered to be a GUEST teacher, college degree required**

Reports To: Building Principal and Absence Management Coordinator in HR

Takes Direction From: Building Principal and Absence Management Coordinator in HR

Schedule/Calendar: 7.5 hrs./day (Flexible work schedule)

Summary: Instructs students and facilitates their learning in the absence of the regular teacher. Responsible for maintaining a safe learning environment.

Essential Functions:

Provides classroom instruction to students as outlined in lesson plans. Creates a classroom that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.

Maintains a safe and orderly environment.

Maintains established routine of the school and classroom procedures in which assigned.

Maintains a professional appearance as an example to students.

Remains at school the entire school day, unless otherwise instructed to leave by building principal.

Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Maintains reasonable rules of conduct that encourage self-discipline and responsibility.

Communicates effectively with parents when needed. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and times designated.

Completes other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Certification Required:

Bachelor’s degree

Skills Required:

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret lesson plans, technical procedures, and textbooks.

Ability to write general correspondence.

Ability, both orally and in writing, to present information effectively and respond appropriately to questions and concerns from individuals, administrators, parents, and students

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents through oral and written communication.

Ability to perform duties with awareness of corporation requirements. Ability to implement lessons based on corporation and school objectives and student needs and abilities.

Light work: If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the individual sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
