2023-2024 SY Rates for Substitute Special Education Assistants: $17.13/hour

• Additional Compensation:

Initial Bonus - After 10 days of work = $100

• Subsequent bonus - After additional 20 days of work = $150Substitute Teachers* working as Substitute Special Education Assistant = $150/day

: A substitute special education assistant assists the classroom teacher to provide extra support to students with special needs, promoting academic and personal growth. The substitute paraprofessional job responsibilities range from supplementing regular classroom curriculum to helping individual students.

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities range from supplementing regular classroom curriculum to helping individual students
• Provides instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students
• Assists teacher with classroom management and general supervision of the class
• Assists with administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials
• Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
• Supports students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans
• Performs other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration
