Title: Accounting Supervisor Reports To: Assistant Director of Business Administration Takes Direction From: Chief Financial Officer and Assistant Director of Business Administration Schedule/Calendar: 8 hrs./day 40 hrs./week 261 days/year Salary: $38.63/hr. - $42.92/hr. Summary: Responsible for maintaining the accounts for General, Self-Insurance, Capital Reserve, Fiduciary, and Bond Funds. This includes entering and maintaining financial data, preparing reports for departments, schools, and board, and the coordination the operations of the accounts payable department. Assist in the preparation of the budget. Oversees the Accounts Payable, Activity Accounts/Fixed Asset, and Enterprise Fund bookkeepers and assists as necessary. Essential Functions
Assists in preparation of budget by setting up new accounts and compiling budget planning data
Maintains General, Self-Insurance, Capital Reserve, Bond Fund, Fiduciary Fund, and all other fund’s general ledgers
Reports to schools on account balances and performs all financial software transactions necessary as required
Assists staff and new hires with financial software functions
Responsible for all payroll accounting entries and adjustments
Bills Enterprise Funds for payroll, benefits, and expenses
Responsible for cash deposits and accuracy of cash receipts
Prepares wire disbursements for Self-Insurance Fund
Prepares wire disbursements for bond payments
Makes all cash transfers necessary for cash flow and investment
Balances and reconciles cash accounts for General, Self-Insurance, Capital Reserve, Bond and Fiduciary funds.
Performs monthly and annual financial close
Completes and files for debt reimbursement with the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Division of School Facilities
Prepares monthly reports for Board Meeting and Finance Committee
Prepares IDEA billings to the IU for reimbursement
Calculates, prepares, distributes and files 1099s
Assists in preparation of Annual Financial Report (AFR) and the audited financial statements
Gathers information and prepares reports for auditors
Maintains records of district investments
Performs other duties as assigned
Education And/or Certification Required
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
Experience Needed
5-years accounting experience
Supervisory experience
Public school district experience preferred
Knowledge
Knowledge of finance software, eFinance specifically, and Cognos
?Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, budget practices and financial reporting
Skills
Excellent problem-solving skills; detailed oriented, and highly organized
Excellent typing and math skills
Requires software proficiency with the application that the District uses, specifically knowledge of Google and all associated functions: email, calendar, docs, sheets, and slides, etc.
