North Orange County Regional Occupational Program is Hiring an APPLICATIONS DEVELOPER Near Anaheim, CA

POSITION: APPLICATIONS DEVELOPER

REPORTS TO: Director of Technology and Data Support Services

WORK YEAR: 12 months; 240 duty days; 40 hours/week

SALARY: Classified Salary Schedule: Range 46

JOB LOCATION(S): North Orange County ROP Administrative Center, 385 N Muller St, Anaheim, CA 92801; Various

DEFINITION & SCOPE OF PRACTICE

The Applications Developer implements and provides software application support of workflow and reporting tools using programming languages, with a few examples being: PowerShell, PHP/Python, SQL, and other query-based applications; provides quality control, assurance testing, first-tier support/problem-solving, changes/updates/uploads data for all internally developed, vendor-provided, and cloud-based business applications; provides implementation and support of workflow and web content management software; and supports Technology Services and Data Support’s regulatory and compliance activities.

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Analyze data using Structured Query Language (SQL)

2. Analyze, design, implement, and maintain user security for application access

3. Analyze, design, implement, and maintain workflow models for software applications

4. Assist in defining project scope, objectives, and critical target dates

5. Configure site and library settings for web content management software (i.e., SharePoint)

6. Configure, test, and document software applications to ensure their successful implementation and ease of maintenance

7. Consult and collaborate with staff to review, develop, and implement new or updated procedures, software applications, and user documentation

8. Coordinate, schedule, and verify results of application utilities executed to support business applications and procedures

9. Create new sites for web content management software (i.e., WordPress)

10. Define and document requirements for enhancements

11. Design, develop, and maintain reports using application reporting tools

12. Develop documentation for business software applications

13. Develop training materials and curriculum and conduct formal training sessions

14. Develop, coordinate, and implement plans to test business and functional processes during system development and quality assurance testing

15. Follow established Quality Assurance standards and policies

16. Follow security standards as defined by the Technology Services and Support Department

17. Manage permissions for all sites for web content management software (i.e., WordPress and SharePoint)

18. Participate in developing software test plans to ensure internally developed applications are tested thoroughly to ensure their quality and compliance with established business policies and practices while documenting test results

19. Participate in user meetings and training sessions

20. Perform analysis to determine requirements and issue resolution

21. Provide direction on Data mining and workflow management

22. Provide first-tier support of internally developed applications to ROP personnel and serve as a resource to professional and technical staff

23. Provide functional and technical support

24. Provide support for all internally developed business and instructional applications, including student information systems (i.e., Aeries, SharePoint, Excel, Access, and Cloud Based Spreadsheet applications)

25. Review and implement content-related changes for web content management software based on web analytics (i.e., Google Analytics) reports

26. Support Data integrity and governance

27. Work with personnel to problem-solve and develop solutions for complex business concerns

28. Work with software vendors to understand, configure, enhance, and support application software products

Perform related duties similar to the above in scope and function as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & TRAINING:

OPTION 1:

● Associate degree in computer or information systems or a closely related field.

● Three (3) or more years of paid experience in an information services and technology support-related field, specifically working with databases and software development and programming.

OPTION 2:

● Completion of high school or the equivalent and five (5) years of any combination of experience, including at least three (3) years of computer or business information systems or services or in fields directly related to the position, is required.

● A Bachelor’s degree in computer or business information systems or related fields is desirable.

● Industry certifications or equivalent training in programming or development is highly desirable.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: A valid California Class C Driver's License, the ability to maintain insurability status, and access to personal and reliable transportation are required.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employees in this position typically work in an office or school environment that is clean, generally hazard-free, has minimal temperature variations, and is moderately paced with moderate to high pressure.
