Job Description

**Distribution and Transportation:*** Accurately and efficiently transports lab-related supplies, equipment, specimens, reports, and x-ray films to and from laboratory outreach clients* Responsible for maintenance and appearance of assigned vehicle* Abides all laws and regulations while driving assigned vehicle**Specimen Handling & Processing:*** Matches received specimen to requisition and verifies required information* Safely packs, stores, and transports specimen in compliance with regulatory guidelines* Processes specimen and applies barcode labels prior to delivery to core lab for testing* Will work closely with clients to ensure compliance with Outreach policies and procedures**Communication:*** Accurately and efficiently address/respond to inquiries concerning pickup and transportation of specimens and laboratory supplies**Customer Service*** Answer telephone in an polite and efficient manner* Provide a high level of customer service* Perform courier services in a manner to provide a high level of quality to our customers**Employee Relations:*** Works as part of a team with all Pathology and NMHS employees**Education:*** Participates in continuing education programs to maintain and expand skills* Stay abreast of regulatory changes**Regulation**:* Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines* Complies with appropriate Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statuesJob Knowledge: * High School Diploma or equivalent, required;* Valid Mississippi Driver’s License and acceptable driving record/history; required* 1 year laboratory experience; preferred* Good organizational and communication skills; required* General knowledge of Laboratory Information System; required* Knowledge of and appropriate handling and transportation of biohazardous specimens; required
