Job Description


**Administrative Duties:*** Provides leadership and vision to facilitate achievement of operational and financial goals of the nursing and other departments of responsibility* Ensures that the function of planning, organizing, coordinating and controlling provides an environment of Professional Nursing Practice and continues improvement in patient care* Participates with leaders from the governing body, management, medical staff and other clinical areas in developing the policies, budgets and resource allocation**Budget:*** Develops and oversees the nursing department’s budget to maintain fiscal accountability and financial sustainability**Liaison:*** Serves as a liaison between staff, physicians, patients, and family members to ensure effective communication/interaction* Participates with the medical staff and other clinical and managerial leaders on committees, task forces, and projects/programs to improve operations and delivery of care**Reporting:*** Prepares and presents operational and financial reports/projects as required**Regulation**:* Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines* Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statue **Leadership:*** Reviews budget for all cost centers within scope of responsibility* Develops annual nursing goals and strategic initiatives* Evaluates and provides coaching for all employees within the scope of responsibility* Develops/implements/evaluates new patient services* Assures compliance with productivity targets for all cost centers with scope of responsibility**Human Relation Skills:*** Must have extensive contact with patients, physicians, and all staff in the assigned product line/departments* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills* Must reflect a positive, caring attitude toward clients, patients, staff and the public we serve* Evaluates and coaches reporting employees towards accomplishing major goals and objectives* Recruits, evaluates, coaches, schedules and implements training programs for subordinates* Uses collaborative skills to negotiate equitable solutions to conflicts and concerns**Problem Solving:*** Ability to comply with budgetary guidelines* Ability to comply with regulatory guidelines**Accountability:*** Oversees nursing budget compliance* Interviews, hires, and/or terminates appropriate personnel* Coaches and disciplines staff as appropriate* Establishment of nursing specific policies and procedures* Approval of operating expenses within nursing budget* Approval of capital expenses within nursing budget* Approve routine communications to staff and physicians as needed **Required:*** Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college of nursing; required/Master’s degree; preferred.* Minimum of 5 years of progressive management responsibilities in an acute care hospital environment
