About this position

The registered dietitian supports clinic and outpatient functions of the Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery departments. The registered dietitian establishes and maintains effective multidisciplinary relationships with the healthcare team to provide patient care that is integrated and compatible with the patient-focused medical/nutritional goals and objectives across a diversified area of practice, including community and outpatient services. Primary responsibilities include application of the Nutrition Care Process (NCP), including completion of the nutrition assessment/Nutrition Focused Physical Assessment (NFPA), determination of the nutrition diagnosis, developing and implementing nutrition interventions(s), and monitoring and evaluating of the patient's progress.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in dietetics, foods and nutrition, or related area, granted by a U.S. regionally accredited college or university. Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Experience

  • One year experience with emphasis on outpatient weight management nutrition preferred.
  • Certified Specialist in Obesity Weight Management (CSOWM) or willingness to obtain certification preferred

Licensure/Certification

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist or eligible for registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. If registration-eligible, must pass the dietetic registration exam within 6 months of hire. - NMHC Standard
  • Licensed Dietitian (State of Minnesota)
  • State Requirement. License must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
