About this position
Accurate assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes for DRG assignment, revenue and research purposes on inpatient encounters. Abstracting of occurrences to Quality Assurance, Infection Prevention, Utilization Management, Risk Management and Pharmacy. The Inpatient coders provide shared services for North Memorial and Maple Grove Hospital
Requirements
Education
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Graduate of a Coding Certificate or Health Information Technician program
Experience
Advance knowledge of ICD-10CM and DRG coding preferred.
Maintenance of continuing education hours through AHIMA required.
Minimum 1 year experience in a clinical healthcare role (i.e. HUC, Nursing) Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
Data entry skills preferred.
Ability to successfully complete inpatient coding test required.
Licensure/Certification
American Health Information Management Association credential required, or must obtain certification within six months of hire date or 120 hrs of training, in one of the following: 1) Registered Health Information Technician or 2) Registered Health Information Administrator or 3) Certified Coding Specialist - NMHC Standard
