Salaries for new classroom teachers and librarians are based on the salary ranges below (10-month work schedule)

In accordance with House Bill 3, the ranges above include additional compensation for classroom teachers with more than five (5) years of experience.
All salary ranges are adopted annually by the Board of Trustees. The District ensures salary placement for new hires will be based on verified years of experience according to the Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service . These ranges should not be used to project salary amounts for subsequent years.
In addition, teachers and librarians may qualify for the following stipends:
Advanced Degree Stipends
Performance and Other Supplemental Stipends
Bilingual & ESL Stipends
**IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CALCULATION OF PAY: The annual pay for this position is pro-rated based on the effective date of the assignment**
EDUCATION :
Masters Degree
Two years classroom teaching experience from a public or accredited private school
CERTIFICATION :
Valid Texas Teacher Certification with Learning Resource endorsement and/or Learning Resource Specialist Certificate and/or School Librarian Certificate
Bilingual preferred
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
The librarian administers the school library program by providing services and resources which allow students to locate, select, synthesize, and evaluate information to solve problems. The librarian continually collaborates with students and teachers to raise the level of student achievement.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: :
1. Collaborates with teachers to implement meaningful, timely instruction for students in groups and as individuals.
2. Works with other faculty and administrators to improve State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) related performance of all students.
3. Offers training and guidance to students and staff in the use of technology and information resources.
4. Teaches information skills within the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum context.
5. Offers a balanced collection of materials to support the curriculum and students' needs and interests.
6. Offers a multicultural collection that reflects a diverse community.
7. Offers a balance of print and electronic resources based on District selection policies and regulations.
8. Maintains a current, relevant, organized collection.
9. Manages personnel effectively.
10. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility over the library budget.
11. Makes proficient use of time.
12. Completes administrative tasks in a timely manner.
13. Establishes an environment which encourages self-discipline and self-directed learning.
14. Implements discipline management procedures in compliance with District policies.
15. Ensures a user friendly library.
16. Uses appropriate and accurate verbal and nonverbal communication with students, staff, parents and community.
17. Contributes to making the whole school a learning community.
18. Stimulates students to be active lifelong learners.
19. Performs duties in a professional, ethical and responsible manner as defined in the Texas Education Code of Ethics for Educators.
20. Provides leadership in addressing the challenges of the profession.
21. Participates in professional development activities that are aligned with District, campus and library goals.
22. Exhibits a willingness to collaborate with colleagues and other professionals for continuous growth and development.
23. Correlates professional development activities with prior performance appraisal.
24. Maintains confidentiality of information.
25. Reports to work on time every day.
26. Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends in library technologies, materials, collection development, general curriculum and instructional strategies
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, and detail oriented
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff, students, parents, and members of the business community
  • Ability to work collaboratively with district and school site personnel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate effectively with administrators, campus level staff, parents, and the community
  • Valid Texas Drivers License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
