Position: Visitor Services Associate

Agency Mission: Collect, preserve, interpret, and share the history and culture of Clay County, Minnesota.

Job Description, Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide friendly customer service to visitors and process admission fees.
• Advise visitors of support opportunities.
• Perform gift shop sales.
• Give guided tours of the Stave Church.
• Orient visitors to the Museum, the galleries, and the Heritage Gift Shop.
• Become knowledgeable about the Museum’s history, purpose, and programs.
• Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed, i.e. sweeping, dusting, and vacuuming.
• Provide support for special events as needed. This includes festivals, receptions, wine classes, etc.

Individuals considered for this position should be motivated to complete tasks and goals independently, possess excellent interpersonal communication skills, be able to work a flexible schedule, multi-task and be detail oriented. An ideal candidate has an interest in and/or an experience with history, cultural studies, and museums, but it is not required. A friendly personality and the ability to work with a diverse range of co-workers, volunteers, and members of the public are also ideal qualities for this position.

Requirements & Competencies:

• Must have received a Federal Work-Study award and have no holds (e.g. verification, SAP)
• Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits

Work Location:

• Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County, 202 1st Ave. N., Moorhead, MN

Hours & Schedule:

• Approximately 7-10 hours per week
• Work hours will be determined based on class schedule

Rate of Pay:

• $10.00 per hour - starting
