Transform people’s lives. NDSU Extension empowers North Dakotans to improve their lives and communities through science-based education. Lead dynamic family and community wellness Extension programs in Eddy and Foster Counties of North Dakota.
  • Develop, plan, deliver, facilitate, and evaluate successful, research-based educational programs in the areas of healthy aging, leadership and civic engagement, parent and family education, and food, nutrition and health that result in positive community impacts. Listen to clientele, build networks to assess locals needs and collaborate with communities of people.
  • Reach youth and adult audiences. Be a voice in mass and social media outreach.
  • Share leadership of Eddy and Foster County 4-H programs including the development of 4-H volunteers.
  • Willing and able to travel and adjust to a flexible schedule (i.e., participate in evening and weekend programs).

Location:

This position is in the NDSU Extension Eddy County office, located in New Rockford, ND. The position will also serve Foster County, with the county seat located in Carrington, ND. New Rockford is a community of approximately 1,600 people. It’s centered between North Dakota’s four largest cities. It is located 150 miles from Fargo, 135 miles from Bismarck, which is the state capital, 125 miles from Grand Forks, and 120 miles from Minot, with Devils Lake just 40 miles to the north and Jamestown 60 miles south. This puts New Rockford in close proximity of multiple airports. New Rockford is in the heart of some of the best hunting and fishing in the United States. Sportsman from across the country journey to the area for this reason. You will also find many other attractions and entertainment throughout the city, such as the movie theatre, bowling alley, golf course, swimming pool or library. The city has several local eateries and lodging accommodations.


Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Some weekend and evening work required

Advertised Salary:

Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human development, family and consumer sciences, education, health and nutrition, gerontology or a related field, OR a bachelor’s degree with work experience related to the position or a related master’s degree.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use Microsoft office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals, groups and through mass media.
  • Ability to conduct oneself professionally, be self-directed in the work environment and work flexible and extended hours.
  • Ability to use technology for communication, information finding, program delivery, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with various ethnic and socioeconomic audiences, an interest and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Valid driver’s license.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in youth/human development, family and consumer sciences, education, gerontology, health and nutrition, or a closely related field.
  • Experience recruiting and managing volunteers.
  • Experience in designing and delivering educational programs.
  • Recent Extension work experience.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with 4-H and/or other youth programs.
  • Experience with problem solving and conflict management.
