The position of parent coordinator requires personal experiences with child welfare, mental health, courts and school systems in advocating for the rights and appropriate services for children with emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges, effective communication skills, and successful experience in working with children with emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges and their families. Diplomacy, tact and collaboration building skills and assertiveness are necessary as well as team spirit and practice. The parent coordinator must be the parent of a child with an emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges.
