Medical Records Technician

North Country HealthCare is transforming healthcare for rural Arizona as a Federally Qualified Health Center and Teaching Health Center. General Description of Position:

The Medical Records Technician directly impacts patient care across all North Country HealthCare locations through the gathering, organizing, sorting, and routing of electronic demographic and health information within the clinical application systems. This position is crucial in enabling the right information to be available to the right person at the right time in order for our teams to provide excellent patient care. This position works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and timeliness in managing health records.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Gathers, sorts and routes patient health records obtained through various methods (scanned in by office staff, electronically faxed, etc.)
• Prepares medical records for automated routing into the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
• Manually indexes health records when automation fails
• Monitors and corrects patient records for discrepancies, inaccuracies, and duplication
• Communicates and collaborates with other North Country departments and external partners to ensure timeliness and accuracy of patient record

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 0-6 Months related experience or training
• Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Systems, Computer Systems, Microsoft Office (Preferred, not required)
