JOB TITLE: Adult Activity Aide
LOCATION: Boyne City, MI
REPORTS TO: Workshop Supervisor
STATUS: Part-Time, On-call, Non-Union
HYBRID ELIGIBLE: No
STARTING WAGE RANGE: $15.23 - $15.99 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Experience: Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
Other: Satisfactory completion of training to meet requirements of regulating bodies and demonstrated ability to apply such training to the work environment. Experiences with behavioral health issues are valued. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with groups. Enthusiasm about fostering opportunities for persons with mental illness.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Adult Activity Aide is the person responsible for the daily program activities of consumers at their worksite and within the community. The Adult Activity Aide will assist individuals with developmental disabilities to develop daily living skills, vocational skills and provide job coaching within their communities. Implements the programs designed for each consumer, documents progress, and shares in daily maintenance chores.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Implement programs for self-help and daily living, according to the Person-Centered plan.
  • Provide necessary supervision and care of consumers with regard to health and hygiene needs.
  • Maintain communication regarding consumer behavior with the Supports Coordinator.
  • Report changes in behavior or unusual behavior.
  • Document consumer activities and progress.
  • Lift, turn, or physically assisting consumers.
  • Plan and implement relevant community outings.
  • Maintain a safe environment by utilizing approved intervention techniques including crisis interventions when required.
  • Participate in Job Coaching for employed consumers.
  • Participate in daily transportation and/or supporting community-based activities.
  • Participate in daily building maintenance as required.
  • Follow Gentle Teaching Curriculum
  • Perform other related duties or activities as assigned by the supervisor.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to walk, bend, stand, sit, lift to 50 pounds with or without assistance, stretch/reach, hear, see, hand/finger dexterity and drive a vehicle. Position requires physical ability to complete and maintain certification in CPI techniques which will be a training class provided to the job incumbent. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions in accordance with applicable laws.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be current in Adult CPR and First Aid; provided by NCCMH.
  • Complete initial training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI); provided by NCCMH.
  • Have own smartphone for communication and reliable access to messages; must have Multi-factor (MFA) capabilities.
  • Possess a valid Michigan’s driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record to maintain ability to operate Agency vehicles.
  • Use of personal vehicle for Agency business may be required when Agency vehicles are not available.
  • Ability to work within guidelines of the code of conduct, regulatory compliance plan and personnel policies.
  • Supports a philosophy of service delivery that is recovery-based, person centered and culturally competent.
  • Adhere to applicable policies and procedures as required by the Department of Community Mental Health, the Mental Health Services Board, and other pertinent regulatory agencies.
