Job Position located in Streetsboro, OH

Second Shift Laboratory Technician – Cannabis Lab

Job Summary: North Coast Testing Laboratories, LLC (NCTL) is a cannabis testing laboratory serving the Ohio Medical Marijuana market. NCTL is a production lab that analyzes cannabis flower, concentrates, and processed products for licensed producers throughout the state. Our team is looking for a second shift Laboratory Technician to perform routine testing on customer samples according to approved laboratory methods. This is a second shift position with a rotating weekends.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist the microbiological team to perform various tasks leading to microbial analyses on customer samples such as total coliform, enterobacteria, E. coli, Salmonella and Aerobic Plate Count using manual plate count and film plate methods following laboratory standard operating procedures and ensuring adherence to quality assurance and quality control requirements.
  • Assist lead microbiologist to perform Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) methods to detect and quantify pathogens of interest in customer samples. This includes the ability to interpret qPCR data.
  • Assess data compliance and validity using established quality assurance and quality control protocol to ensure that all work is performed and documented properly and in compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Use the laboratory’s Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to report results obtained from various analyses and to batch samples to be prepared for analysis.
  • Assist in sample preparation for other analytical tests in the lab.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year accredited college or university in biology, microbiology, chemistry or other natural sciences. Experience in a production lab/environmental lab preffered.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various microbial analytical techniques including manual plate methods and advanced instrumentation, procedures, and QA/QC criteria used in an analytical and/or environmental laboratory.
  • Basic knowledge of different microorganisms (ie. relation to each other, identification, and sources of growth)
  • Familiar with qPCR applications preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast paced production lab.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $26.44 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
