Posting Details (Default Section) Posting Number 9001849 Title Student Success Coach Career Services Position Type Full-Time Department Completion Center Job Summary This position is responsible for the following : Assesses student needs and goals and guides them through the career development process and provides them with resources and training to enhance their employability and job readiness skills.

Builds viable relationships with internal and external partners to develop ideas, programs, and events that enhance awareness of community hiring needs and job openings.

Connects students and alumni to quality employment opportunities through individual coaching and communication, group workshops and classroom presentations, and employer and career events.

Responsibilities and duties include :

  • Facilitates individual career development and coaching sessions with students / clients by assessing their needs, skills, and goals using NCTC Coaching methodology in order to determine how to best assist them with their career goals and development needs.
  • Prepares students for employment by teaching and guiding them in the development of job readiness skills such as resume development, interview practice, labor market research, networking, job search processes and strategies, and employer communication to assist students in gaining their career goals.
  • Maintain records, documentation, and case notes by recording notes in Jenezabar database, and maintaining hard copy files to comply with department and institutional reporting case management and reporting objectives.
  • Manages all aspects of career events including planning, coordinating, logistics, event layout, day of coordination, and collaborating with employers, faculty, students, community partners.

Plans details, logistics, event layout, and day of coordination for events to facilitate opportunities for students / alumni and build employer relationships.

Networks with employers and community partners and attends community events (chamber, city, workforce, ISDs, Cumberland, Project Search, etc.

to build relationships and develop a mutually-beneficial partnership to increase our awareness of employment opportunities for students.

  • Collaborates with department chairs, deans, faculty, and staff of my assigned pathways to determine career development and job / internship placement needs of the students in those programs.
  • Conducts classroom and group presentations and workshops on career readiness topics such as resume development and interview skills to support equipping students to obtain their career goals and assist faculty in meeting learning objectives.
  • Pulls data on student appointments, career events, and outreach activities for weekly and monthly reports to support department in providing relevant data towards documented objectives.
  • Teaches First Year Experience course to first time in college students; plans lessons, posts course content on canvas, grades assignments, communicates with students regarding changes, grades, etc.

in order to assist new students in developing strong skills and support department objectives.

  • Conducts research, attends training and conferences, and stays current on industry trends for both my assignment pathways and for career-related topics like resumes and networking in order to serve students with relevant and timely career development skills.
  • Involvement in career services and employer relations-related committees to support my department, division and institution in meeting documented outcomes and to positively impact students, alumni and our college community.
  • Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities and duties may change based on the needs of the department and the institution.

Required Education Bachelor’s Degree

Bachelor’s Degree in Career Counseling, Career Development, Higher Education, Human Resources, Social Services, Psychology, or related field, preferred Required Skills & Abilities

Preferred Skills & Abilities Required Experience One (1) year of experience in administrative management, student support services, or related field.

Preferred Experience Preferred :

  • Two (2) years Career Coaching / Job Placement / Social Services / Case Management or related field
  • Two (2) years Higher Education Student Services or related field
  • One (1) Career Development Theory and Practices
