North Central Health Care is Hiring a Life Enrichment Aide (CNA) Near Wausau, WI

Pay Range starting at $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
0.6 FTE - Hours 11:30 am - 8:00 pm (could be up to 0.8 full-time hours)

Education, Licenses, Certification, Skills and Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum Education:
    • High School graduation or equivalent required
    • Certified Nursing Assistant with current Wisconsin registry (Mount View Care Center only)
  • Minimum Work Experience: Six months prior experience and/or training with geriatric residents in a care setting and/or activities
  • Required Skills:
    • Basic computer, iPod & iPad knowledge
    • Ability to motivate and involve others
    • Ability to make accurate objective observations and document
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Good time management skills
    • Work well independently and as a team
  • Driving Requirements: Valid Wisconsin Driver's License and appropriate auto insurance coverage as required by North Central Health Care
  • Preferred Qualifications, Skills, Education, Licenses, Certifications and Requirements:
    • Current BLS (CPR) certification
    • Currently certified, or willing to get certification as Activity Assistant by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (non-applicable if FTE is .6 or below)
Any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide person centered service.
  • Complete job specific and core competencies and continuing education, as assigned by Supervisor and North Central Health Care.
  • Follows the life enrichment calendar in a timely manner and makes changes, as necessary.
  • Assists in the planning, preparation, and execution (independently or with assistance of other life enrichment staff. or volunteers) of large groups, small groups, 1:1 and individual activities (including sensory programming and Music & Memory program).
  • Prepares materials in a timely manner, sets up, invites and gathers residents, and facilitates (independently or with the assistance of other life enrichment staff or volunteers) group and 1:1 activities.
  • Involves and helps motivate resident participation through providing high quality engaging life enrichment programs at all functional levels.
  • Understands and utilizes appropriate programming/activities for the population served.
  • Transports and directs residents to various in-house and outdoor structured activities.
  • Provides supervision to residents working on projects on unit and/or activity rooms.
  • Adapts group and individual activities to meet the needs of each resident.
  • Maintains regular and predictable on-site attendance.
  • Assists volunteers and train new staff if needed.
  • Maintains records documenting resident attendance and participation.
  • Uses equipment safely and sanitizes.
  • Initiate virtual visits and assist, as necessary.
  • Able to plan and implement all phases taking residents on community outings, as necessary.
  • Ensure independent leisure supplies is available and provide to residents as requested.
  • Adhere to Life Enrichment standard protocols (Pine Crest only).
  • Follow SDS list and protocols.
  • Follow diet orders when serving food.
Non-Essential Job Duties:
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Possibly for Mount View:
    • Serve as mentor for new employees.
    • Assist with C.N.A responsibilities as needed/requested
    • Care for birds and aviary cleaning and maintenance.
  • Possibly for Pine Crest:
    • Facilitates seasonal decoration of the facility.
    • Provides transportation duties in the absence of the Transportation Clerk.
    • If a C.N.A, may need assist in transfers or toileting as needed.
    • Sit in on a committee as assigned by Supervisor and have good attendance and participation.
    • Put away donations, assist with Christmas tasks.
    • Plan and facilitate all aspects of the county fair and WRAP art projects.
    • Assist with beauty shop scheduling, auditing, and assistance.
    • Care for birds and aviary cleaning and maintenance.
    • Assist facilitating telehealth.
    • Gardening maintenance.
    • Assist residents fill out menus.
    • Initiate and assist with the library program.
    • Distribute mail.
