Summary of Position
North Cascades Institute seeks a qualified, enthusiastic professional food service assistant to join our Kitchen Team for the summer season through September 30, 2023. Based out of the Institute’s field campus in North Cascades National Park, this position supports food services at the North Cascades Environmental Learning Center, which serves up to 100 children and/or adults per day most weeks. This position works closely with many Institute staff, partners and contractors to support a wide array of educational programs. This includes the Foodshed Project, the Institute’s initiative to incorporate local, organic products in the operation of the Learning Center.

Pay rate is $17.00 to 18.00 per hour. This is a seasonal/temporary, full-time (32-40 hours per week), non-exempt position.

Benefits are prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week.
Housing
Good quality housing is available through the Institute for $350/month including utilities, considerably below market rates. Private rooms in shared houses are sometimes available, but not guaranteed. In some cases, roommates in shared rooms may be required, at $175/month. The Institute has housing available in Marblemount or at the Learning Center on Diablo Lake. Smoking is not allowed in housing, during programs, or on the Institute’s campus. Pets are not allowed in the Institute’s campus housing.
