North Carolina Dept of State Treasurer is Hiring a Banking Specialist Near Wake, NC

Description of Work

DST is looking for a Banking Specialist. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits, including health insurance, paid vacation, paid sick time, paid holidays, as well as retirement and 401K!
** This position has a recruitment range of $38,516 - $48,209 **
*** The selected candidate will have the ability to telework one day per week once fully oriented ***
This position will:
  • Assist the Sr. Banking Specialist in charge of Collateral with all functions.
  • Manage daily processing of international wire requests, wire returns, and research.
  • Answer incoming calls and email requests, provide assistance with deposit inquiries from agencies and perform research as needed.
  • Provide support as needed for additional SBU functions, including but not limited to ACH report management and bank interface file processing.
  • Process Main Bank analysis and child support invoices.

The Financial Operations Division of the NC Department of State Treasurer (DST or Department) is responsible for the efficient and prudent management of state held assets. Banking Operations serves as the banking hub for all State departments, agencies, institutions, and universities. The Bank Reconciliation Unit is responsible for reconciling all of the State Treasurer's bank accounts as well as reconciling budget code balances between the Office of State Controller and DST. This position is part of the Banking Operations area.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Qualified applicants must possess, and application must clearly reflect work experience that demonstrates the following:

  • Knowledge of common banking and investment terminology.
  • Ability to compile, assimilate and organize both printed and electronic information.
  • Ability to research and apply statutory and administrative code requirements.
  • Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; use effective approaches for choosing a course of action, or developing appropriate solutions.
  • Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups.
Management Preferences:
  • Two years of retail banking or banking operations experience.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
