SUMMARY:
The Pharmacist will dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information to patients about medications and their use. He or she may advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medication. Works with the Pharmacy Technicians to make sure medication is dispensed per protocols, educates patients on medication, and indigent program rebates along with third party insurance completed correctly.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Screens, checks and fills prescriptions, including the counseling of each patient.
- Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability. Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage. Responsible for dispensing, recordkeeping and reports.
- Plans, implements, and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
- Provides specialized services to help patients manage conditions such as diabetes, asthma, smoking cessation, and high blood pressure. Offers health promotion and prevention activities by, for example, training people to use devices such as blood pressure and diabetes monitors. Advises customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, and health care supplies.
- Work with the Director of Pharmacy Services in the training and education of pharmacy students. Teaches pharmacy interns in preparation for their graduation or licensure.
- Maintains current knowledge of drug therapy. Orders and purchases pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, and drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly.
- Consult with physicians on patient medical history.
- Serves on the Pharmacy & Therapeutics, Diabetes, and CQI committees.
- Plans and organizes patient education projects as part of the grant objectives.
- Maintains and follows clinical and pharmacy guidelines as required and assists in prep for any surveys/inspections.
- Coordinates with Pharmacy team in optimizing pharmacy services at FCCHC.
- Assist with COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination Program.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BS in Pharmacy, two years’ experience as pharmacist. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree. Must be licensed.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to communicate effectively before groups or organizations.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish and English with patients and family members from various educational, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to apply concepts of basic mathematics. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percents.

- Ability to operate basic office equipment.
- Ability to manage an office in an efficient manner. Word processing, spreadsheet, accounting and general computer skills.
- Ability to assess and visually present data.
- Ability to deal effectively with stress, exercise good judgment and to work under pressure.
