North Carolina Adult Correction is Hiring an Installation Supervisor Near Wake, NC

Description of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to train and supervise offenders in the installation of custom-built case goods, upholstered furniture, office seating and other wood furniture. The secondary purpose of this position is to train and supervise offenders in the use of installation tools utilized when moving and installing office furniture, cubicles, and other furnishing used in state government facilities. This position trains offenders in unloading, loading, and tracking furniture/cubicle inventories. Position ensures that offenders follow standard operating procedures, OSHA regulations, Department of Adult Correction, and North Carolina Correction Enterprise policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities include performing other duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager or Director of Woodworking. The position is subject to overtime if necessary to meet installation schedules. This position works out of the NC Enterprise Warehouse located in Apex, NC and will do installations from the Apex Warehouse in Wake and surrounding NC counties.
**Must possess, or be able to obtain a Class “B” CDL. within 12 months of employment.**
Necessary Special Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 20 years of age and a citizen of the United States.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass Psychological testing as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
  • Must pass Physical Examination as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
  • Must pass Drug Screening as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
  • Must attend and successfully complete (6) weeks of Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) at a Training Facility.
  • Employees shall be scheduled for BCOT during their 2nd month of employment.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm with State Benefits.

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:

  • Demonstrated experience operating equipment associated with loading/unloading trucks including but not limited to: forklifts, electric lifts, pallet jacks, load locks, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of the installation of custom built furniture, cubicles, and/or other wood products.
  • Demonstrated experience in using a variety of tools used for installation of custom built furniture, cubicles, and/or other wood products.
  • Working knowledge of using a computer to enter and retrieve information/data.
Management Preferences:
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain a Class “B” CDL. within 12 months of employment.
  • Documented supervisory experience.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and a minimum of two years of related industry/service experience; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience.
