GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position is responsible for overseeing continuous improvement activities with all departments to ensure continuous improvement projects are effective and yield the expected improvements. These projects include safety, environmental, sustainability, quality, yield, costs and production. This position will also participate in improvement initiatives such 6S, TPM, SMED and others.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Work with the Strategic Planning Manager to review data provided on areas with issues and continuous improvement plans.
• Liaison with mill and maintenance Managers to coordinate plans to complete projects
• Work with the President and VP of Operations to ensure projects support the MBO goals and objectives.
• Work on gaps between "now" and "future" outlooks in areas.
• Assist areas with completion of ongoing projects.
• Facilitate meetings to ensure projects are completed via the projected timeline.
• Strategic Planning Implementation across the organization.
• PST - Problem Solving Techniques - Implementation for all areas of the business.

• Develop actions in the different departments and areas to improve EBITDA.
• Work with the Safety Department to facilitate and implement safety programs and achieve objectives.
• Work with the Strategic planning department FP and LP and integration of VDM Products flat and long.
• Work with all continuous improvement projects and be active with the different departments to lower the cost of quality.
• Participate with digitalization and analytics to develop new production plans and schedules that permits improved capex in MS and HM.
• Work with different departments and areas to develop CI progress toward processes changes and improvement.
• Work with the TPM department to achieve objectives and run methodology of the plan. Monitor Preventive Maintenance plan, quality maintenance, office maintenance etc.
• Assist and work with the different departments in the CI projects to the Excel 360.
• Identify and work on increasing capacity in MS, HM, LP and CM 200,000 t/y.
• Identify and follow all KPI in the plant to promote CI and to develop those not in plan yet (Like LP FM)
• Work with the Sustainability department on plant expectations to achieve the goals marked 2022 -2030 time . Process digitalization, Capex, energy improving etc.
• Will participate in Daily and Weekly management meetings as well as the Monthly Executive meetings.
• Will oversee manufacturing KPI and actual results

SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

A bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical, industrial engineering, or materials science and a minimum of three-five years' post-baccalaureate experience as an operations engineer or related engineering position are required.

Proficiency in engineering-based understanding of the steel manufacturing processes, including melt shop processes, casting processes, flat steel hot mill rolling processes, flat steel cold mill rolling processes, and long products processes, as shown by two years of experience in this area are required.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Mobility in plant.
• Ability to lift at least 20 lbs.
• Visual ability with or without correction.
• Communication abilities.
