Job Summary

Operates machinery for construction and other projects. Provides skilled labor related to new construction, renovation, and/or other industrial and manufacturing support. Reports to the on-site Foreman and/or Project Manager

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operates construction, excavation, hauling and maintenance equipment including backhoes, front end loaders, bulldozers, excavators, and skid steers
  • Prepares construction sites for building, demolition or excavation
  • Uses excavation machinery to dig holes and trenches used in structural concrete
  • Transports tools and other construction equipment from site to site
  • Uses equipment to prepare building sites for exterior concrete such as parking lots, driveways, sidewalks and loading docks
  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs
  • Assists with other skilled commercial labor as needed to meet deadlines including concrete forming, installation and finishing
  • Adheres to all NAMS policies and OSHA/MSHA/DOT rules & regulations
  • Takes swift action to stop any imminent danger situations you may encounter
  • Promptly reports all accidents and near misses, including minor first aid and property damages prior to end of shift;
  • Performs pre- and post-equipment inspections; identifies and records any safety defects; recommends vehicles be taken out of service as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 2 years' relevant experience operating construction equipment
  • 4 years’ relevant experience in carpentry building trade, plumbing, or mechanical
  • Concrete experience a plus
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Alert, focused, and detail oriented
  • Physically and mentally fit
  • Team player
  • Disciplined, dependable, and resourceful
  • Customer-service mindset

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to walk, sit, stand, balance, stoop, bend, push, pull, lift, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb stairs/ladders and use of hands
  • Prolonged periods of operating construction equipment
  • Must have vision, hearing, and ability to talk
  • Ability to operate equipment in all weather conditions and terrains
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
  • Ability to travel independently to destinations far and near
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary
