Normandeau Associates, Inc. is Hiring an Environmental Scientist Near Bedford, NH

Normandeau Associates, Inc., one of the nation’s largest science-based environmental consulting firms, is seeking a full-time entry-level Environmental Scientist. This position will be based in our Bedford, NH office, with an emphasis on wetland science, wildlife biology, and water resources work supporting clients in both private and public sectors in New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.

Qualified candidates will have experience in conducting environmental field work including data collection using typical field instrumentation for conducting wetlands and stream surveys, wildlife surveys, and water quality monitoring; will be experienced managing field data and will have strong reporting and data presentation skills.

Responsibilities for the position:

Candidates will assist senior staff in a variety of field projects including:

· Assist project team with general environmental field work including wetland delineation/surveying/characterization, acoustic bat surveys and inspections, wildlife telemetry studies, habitat assessments, and water quality sampling/monitoring;

· Collect and manage GIS and GPS data, biological monitoring data, stream survey data, and water quality monitoring data;

· Assist with data processing, data QC, data analysis, preparing graphs and figures, and report writing;

· Participate in field work that may require working alone or in a team setting, may require a substantial amount of travel, walking, working from boats, at heights, and may be conducted under a variety of weather and terrain conditions;

· Use, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of environmental equipment including GPS receivers, water quality data sondes, telemetry transmitters and receivers, and acoustic wildlife detectors.

Several projects will require overtime hours, extended overnight work stays, nighttime work, and weekend hours. Candidates will be expected to be available for these projects and provide any dates they are not capable of fulfilling these requirements.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have excellent field data collection, management, and reporting skills for environmental field studies, as well as the ability to independently complete field assignments, and communicate effectively with the project team and senior managers. Local and regional travel is required as is the ability to work from boats, in wetlands/forested/ undeveloped areas, and lift/carry moderately heavy equipment at project sites. A proven ability for troubleshooting, problem solving, and critical thinking is essential for the successful candidate. Occasional overtime, weekend, or evening work may also be required if necessary to meet deadlines.

Candidates will have a minimum of:

· B.S. in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Hydrology, or a related degree.

· One year’s previous work experience or educational equivalent is preferred.

Salary: $20.00-$21.00 hourly based on experience
