Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Deputy Property Tax Assessor to join our team. The Deputy Assessor will provide support in the overall direction and management of the Township's property appraisal program. This includes identifying, inventorying, managing of data and determining market value along with calculating the assessed valuation of the Township properties in accordance with State regulations, methods and procedures to ensure fair and equitable assessments. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in real estate or real estate appraisals, and/or data management to contribute to the success of our organization.
Duties:
- Calculates the market value of various types of properties including new construction, renovations, and additions, by reviewing comparable properties and the local real estate market
- Gathers data on assessed properties by conducting physical inspections and taking photographs
- Reviews building plans and other related construction documents
- Assists taxpayers with questions concerning valuation of the properties
- Manages data and prepares reports
- Maintains records, updating to reflect renovations and updated property data
- Use of personal vehicle for fieldwork with mileage reimbursed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Maintain accurate records of property-related documents
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of property appraisal procedures
- Ability to read documents such as building plans and property deeds
- Familiarity with tax regulations
- High level of professionalism when working with the public
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
-Excellent Math Skills
-Valid Driver's License
- Must have a personal vehicle and maintain state-required car insurance (at employee's expense)
Physical Requirements:
- Work is preformed indoors and outdoors with extended periods sitting at a computer
- Physical effort may be needed to preform work, especially when working in the field
-Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at time

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma
Prior appraisal or real estate experience preferred
CIAO State designation preferred
