Cork & Kettle is a wine and tea bar located in downtown Norfolk. Cork & Kettle offers guests a unique tasting experience with our self-service system. We specialize in the sale of artisanal Virginia and organic wines for on- and off-premises consumption by the glass or bottle, wine tastings, high-end loose-leaf tea, and light fare (e.g., charcuterie boards and sandwiches). Cork & Kettle serves as a local platform to showcase the best Virginia wineries and winemakers, providing ease of access to the consumer and encouraging guests to explore local and organic wines and teas in an engaging, comfortable, and relaxing environment.

Position Overview:

Cork & Kettle is looking for a Culinary Associate who understands how to provide an exceptional dining experience and adhere to restaurant standard practices to deliver high-quality food menu items with an emphasis on presentation. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, positive individual with experience in kitchen operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in food preparation, including slicing fresh meats and cheeses, portioning ingredients, and assembling dishes according to recipes and standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations, equipment, and utensils.
  • Follow proper food handling procedures and safety protocols to ensure food safety and sanitation standards are met.
  • Collaborate with associates to ensure timely and accurate completion of orders during busy service periods.
  • Support inventory management by receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies and ingredients.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a high-end restaurant, café, bar, winery, or hospitality industry.
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented self-starting individual that can successfully work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a small kitchen setting.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with other associates.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Must have a valid State Food Handlers Certification.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred, high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Candidates must complete the pre-screening requirements for their application to be considered.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older

Physical Requirements

· Perform some repetitive motion activities.

· Stand for long periods of time, up to 8 hours a day.

· Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs.

Tasting Room Hours

12 pm to 7 pm Wed and Thurs

12 pm to 8 pm Fri and Sat

12 pm to 6 pm Sun

Job Type: Part-time or Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 35 per week
