Primary Purpose:

Manages and troubleshoots the NS direct-to-locomotive (DTL) truck fleetequipment and the fueling operations.

Principal Duties:

• Manages the contractors who operate DTL fleet and administers thepertinent contracts along with the payment on contracts and thebilling of other railroads who subcontract the service from NS.
• Manages the implementation of a control system to measure andmonitor fuel distributed via DTL resources and manages theimplementation of capital improvements to the fleet and capitalprojects to expand and/or improve DTL facilities.
• Works with the NS Fuel Team and other groups in the company focusedon fuel efficiency to plan the most efficient fuel distributionstrategies and make changes to the fueling plan as necessary tomaximize efficiency.
• Monitors vendor's compliance with NS operational safety policiesincluding environmental awareness while performing their duties on oraround NS.
• Updates computer records and written records of all DTL fuelequipment and distribution including monitoring DTL contracts.
• Requires a thorough working knowledge of NS fueling activities,methods, facilities, equipment, and all operating regions to ensureany system deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner.
