Family Description
Customer Services (CS) covers customer service in different areas such as technical support, account support, operations, maintenance, network design / deployment / integration / transformation, and education. Generates revenue and the increase of customer satisfaction through planning, designing, deploying, integrating, optimising, operating, and maintaining phases.
Subfamily Description
NW Design & Optimisation (NWD) comprises the planning and / or managing the planning of communications networks for customers. Covers consultation of customers on communication network performance. Contains optimisation and / or managing of the optimisation of customer networks. Covers the execution of end-to-end design-related activities (address surveys, site surveys, design and as-built) for deployment projects.

Consults and develops for medium or complex network configuration file, capacity planning, network interface analysis, advanced product dimensioning/solutioning and provide overall engineering support Recommends coverage, capacity, QoE, QoS associated optimization impact on site/cell or SW feature parameters. Organizes field measurements & laboratory tests. Acts as primary escalation point on customer and performance network audits and on problem-solving

Our Optical Network Integration Engineers deliver optical network integration services to a variety of telecommunication customers in North America.

As part of our team, you will participate in the following activities to support optical network deployments and upgrades:

  • Work closely with customers and outside contractors to collect, analyze, and approve outside plant fiber optic characterization data.
  • Review, modify and validate optical network designs.
  • Create network commissioning files and network test procedures. Review these procedures with customers and Nokia field engineers.
  • Turn-up and test the 1830 Optical equipment in the Customer's network and t roubleshoot issues that arise.
  • Create turnover packages to summarize final as-built network configurations and test results in order to obtain customer acceptance.

You have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science (Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred). Prefer 2 years of network integration, technical support or systems test experience with optic networks.
  • Technical knowledge/expertise in the following areas: - WDM, CWDM, Optical networking
  • CLI and TL1 Command Sets.
  • Ethernet, Switching and Routing Protocols.
  • Test Gear (Familiarily with Fiberscopes, Fiber Cleaning, Power Meter, Optical Spectrum Analyzer, Optical Time Domain Reflectometer, Chromatic Dispersion, Polarization Mode Dispersion and Signal Transmission / Bit Error Rate testing).
  • Microsoft Office

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Technical knowledge/expertise with the 1830 (1830PSS, 1830 EPT, 1830 NFM-T) or equivalent optical product lines from other vendors.
  • Solid organizational, communications, interpersonal and time management skills, be able to work with little or no supervision and also be able to move back and forth between and meet closely spaced deadlines for high quality deliverables on several concurrent projects.
