Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for greeting all guests and parking automobiles in parking garage while ensuring the Hotel’s high-quality standards are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets and welcomes all guests to the Hotel in a friendly, courteous and professional manner. A proper greeting based on the time of day should be given (i.e.: good morning, good afternoon, good evening).
  • Opens door for all guests and directs them to the appropriate areas.
  • If there is more than one Valet Attendant on shift, each Attendant should be stationed in a different location so maximum coverage can be achieved (i.e.: one Attendant should be stationed at the Valet stand, one should be at the door, etc.).
  • Opens the car door and assists guest in removing luggage or any other articles from the vehicle. Confirms with the guest the number of luggage pieces to retrieve.
  • Assigns vehicle tags and documents the guest’s name, the car type and license number. Completes visual inspection of vehicle and notates any pre-existing damage on the vehicle tag.
  • Presents vehicle tag to the guest and explains Valet procedures, including how to call for car retrieval when ready to depart.
  • Transports guest luggage from the point of arrival to a Bell Cart. If Bell Person is unavailable, the Valet Attendant will transport luggage to the appropriate guestroom.
  • Notifies Front Desk of arriving guest via radio, including the guest’s name.
  • Safely parks the guest’s vehicle in the parking garage, then places vehicle tag and keys into the secured key cabinet.
  • Patrols area to prevent thefts from parked automobiles.
  • Offers information pertaining to available services and facilities of Hotel.
  • Assist guests and provide accurate directions and or information regarding the local area.
  • Anticipates the guests needs and responds promptly. Acknowledges all guests by name whenever possible.
  • Attempts to learn when the guest is departing so guest vehicle can be retrieved
  • Accepts vehicle tags from guest and brings up guest vehicle, ensuring guest tag matches the vehicle tag. Confirms the number of luggage pieces with the guest.
  • Properly thanks departing guests for visiting the Hotel.
  • Assists guest’s with transportation services when necessary.
  • Promptly answer the Valet Department telephone within three rings using correct greeting and telephone etiquette.
  • Keeps parking area clear, observing time restrictions, and ensures the area is clean and well maintained at all times.
  • Keeps Hotel house car cleaned, gets the car washed/detailed regularly, and ensures waters are always available for the guest.
  • Attends daily Front Desk pre-shift meetings.
  • Assists with house runs as needed.
  • Contacts the Back-of-House Manager when deliveries come in so they can be properly stored and/or routed.
  • In absence of Housekeeping, cleans glass on entry doors and windows, and keeps walkways and entryway clear.
  • Puts out floor mats when weather requires and puts them in storage when not in use.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

OTHER:

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with the Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the Hotel facilities.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Able to drive various types of vehicles.

The ability to speak additional languages other than English is preferred.

Meets legal age requirements for the position.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma is preferred. Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Prior Hospitality experience is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have a valid California Drivers license and a good driving record.
