POSITION SUMMARY: Sets up and operates power presses that automatically feed continuous rolls of material to trim, punch, shape, notch, draw or form.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Set up and/or operate most primary or secondary operation presses and secondary operation equipment within established cycle times.
• Install and align dies in press according to specifications, using bolts, clamps and wrenches.
• Adjust ram stroke to specified height.
• Start-up press and observe operation to detect misalignment or malfunctions.
• Inspect the quality of the product produced for conformance to specifications per the Production Master Sheet, the In–Process Inspection Sheet, or special instructions.
• Inspect and measure parts to maintain statistical process control charts.
• Use problem solving techniques to identify causes of equipment and/or product quality problems.
• Identify coils of nonconforming material and/or finished products and segregate as necessary.
• Perform and document required preventive maintenance on assigned press.
• Complete required paperwork as instructed by pressroom supervision.
• Communicate with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
• Train additional press operators and setup people as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: At least 3 years of work experience, and/or a high school diploma with vocational background.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee is required to:

-Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.

-Exert up to 20 to 70 pounds of force occasionally, and/or

-Exert up to 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or

-Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

LICENSES REQUIRED: None.

VISUAL PERCEPTION: Ability to read machine dials, blueprints, precision measuring instruments, and written documentation and/or instructions.

HEARING ABILITY: Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify the diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.

WORKING CONDIITONS: The employee is subject to:

-High noise levels from operating equipment

-Physical hazards from loading and unloading equipment.

-Breathing fumes, dust and mist

-Skin exposure from oils, cutting fluids and cleaning agents

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
