nLIGHT is Hiring a Process Control Engineer Near Vancouver, WA
- Support manufacturing of released processes and products documenting work instructions and support training of personnel.
- Drive continuous improvement opportunities and yield metrics utilizing wide variety of analytical techniques (such as SPC, DOE, Gauge R&R), lean manufacturing and six sigma concepts.
- Build new fiber laser product lines as part of a key strategy in a vertically integrated organization
- Lead and execute process development and improvement projects from conception to completion.
- Identify recent external advancements in appropriate technical field and qualify into production as capable processes.
- Support transition of new products from prototype to volume production utilizing DFSS and DFM.
- Evaluate, procure, and qualify new manufacturing equipment and tools.
- Direct daily activities of engineering technicians
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering (Optical, Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Physics) and 1 years of industrial experience in closely related technologies, or equivalent combination of education and exceptional industrial experience, including graduate school candidates with hands-on testing/lab development experience.
- Recent experience in process or product development of lasers, complex electronics, systems development, quality control, or related discipline.
- Experience with mechanical drawings, basic tooling, and fixture design.
- Experience with setting up new product lines and transitioning into volume production.
- Strong record of problem solving through structured methodologies and implementing and sustaining robust processes and systems.
- Situational leadership skills and ability to work with cross functional & multi-site teams effectively.
- Hands-on working experience with optical fibers, lasers, optics, electronics and precision mechanical systems and tools highly desired.
- Experience with assembly process including use of tools, complex equipment, adhesives, insulators, electrical power and cooling systems highly desired.
- ASQ Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt
- Master's and/or PhD
- Experience with Solid Works to design and review fixtures and propose improvements.
- Knowledge and understanding of optical fibers, fiber assemblies and termination, optics, test (esp. data analysis), laser diodes and a variety of metrology/characterization/failure analysis techniques.
- 5 years of recent experience in process or product development of lasers, electronics, systems engineering or related discipline.
- Process Control Engineer I: $75,000 - 86,000 annually
- Process Control Engineer II: $80,000 - $93,000 annually
- Senior Process Control Engineer III: $90,000 - $115,000 annually
- Target Cash Bonus of 5% of your wages
- Eligible for Restricted Stock Unit grants
